Olfactory Marketing - translating brand identity into scents

Olfactory Marketing is one of the tools of communication strategists in the corporate world. It is about using scents (often personalized) through fragrances and aromas recorded in memory for commercial benefits, positively influencing the positioning of brands, increasing visitor traffic, and even sales growth. Attracting customers, creating identity, and generating brand memory and loyalty are some of the objectives.

If we can transform aromas into delicious memories of our lives, why not use this same concept in business environments? Or improve the working environment of your employees, promoting well-being and increasing productivity?

Just as the music of a commercial establishment must be carefully selected, as it involves and invites people to stay in the environment, the aroma completes this combo, bringing good sensations so that these same people enjoy being there.

How about translating your brand's spirit into a unique and memorable fragrance?

In many cases, the choice was so successful that many stores (and even hotels) began to produce and market their scents for customers to use in their homes, workplaces, or even as a body perfume.

But watch out! It is necessary to consider what stimuli and sensations you intend to convey to the team and the consumer. The aroma of an environment can conquer and stimulate people, but it can also have the opposite effect and repel customers.

For each type of business, there are more suitable fragrances. See some examples:

+ for doctors' offices: help reduce patient stress with Lavender, Lemongrass, and Chamomile that reduce tension and promote a state of relaxation. To help control anxiety, Patchouli and Ylang-Ylang are also indicated.

+ in commerce: stimulate your customers' spirits, enthusiasm, and willingness to buy with Sweet Orange, Lemon, and Bergamot. Bamboo is ideal for creating a light and fresh environment, as is Eucalyptus. Rosemary is also an excellent flavoring as it brings comfort.

+ in corporate environments: stimulate the team's concentration and productivity, and reduce physical and mental fatigue, using Rosemary and citrus fragrances such as Verbena and Sicilian Lemon that work well in busy environments that demand creativity, for example advertising agencies, as they are energizing and stimulate ideas.

+ for the most superstitious business people: avoid the negative atmosphere with Peppermint and Bergamot. And for financial market stress, Lavender and Chamomile also help minimize stress. Lemongrass, Cherry Blossom, Passion Fruit, Mint, and Jasmine are also great options!.

+ for stores in general: provide your customer with well-being and encourage them to stay longer in your store with Sweet Orange, Lemongrass, Cinnamon, and Verbena, which bring energy and vigor. For women's stores, especially lingerie, strengthen your customers' self-esteem, seduction, and the search for pleasure with Ylang Ylang, Cinnamon, Vanilla, and Sandalwood.

For the application, use perfumes for the environment in a spray format suitable for any size. For smaller spaces, choose the diffuser with sticks, which perfumes subtle and prolongedly. Combining spray and diffuser enhances and extends the perception of fragrances. Remember that curtains, rugs, and furniture made of fabric and wood absorb perfumes as well.

To develop a personalized aroma and/or achieve results with olfactory marketing, an indication of use, types and quantities of products for each environment are necessary. Therefore, always seek the guidance of an expert for the correct choice.
